A brand new Yo-Kai Watch concept has been announced as part of today's Level-5 2024 Vision showcase.
Currently titled Holy Horror Mansion, the game is planned to be a "Ghost Craft RPG", and is planned to be the largest cross-media project for Yo-Kai Watch to date. No platforms or release dates were confirmed for the game-side of things, and we don't know what else this concept entails, but we;ll find out fairly soon.
Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino did reveal that there would be a showcase for the project in Spring 2025, so we'll know a little more early on in the new year, then.
The other big question is; will the game get released worldwide? Yo-Kai Watch 4 never left Japan, and the series never reached the same heights as other monster-catching sims out there (you know which one in particular), but Yo-Kai Watch is pretty big in Japan. So we'll wait and see.
Given Level-5's return and its slate if projects, all of which are coming West, we'd be surprised if this one skipped us.

Most likely will be (also) a "Switch 2" game considering they didn't confirm any platforms and almost certainly released worldwide as luckily it seems the days of Level-5 games exclusively in Japan are behind us, so looking forward to seeing/hearing more of and eventually play whenever they come out this and practically all the other games shown during the showcase (including finally getting Megaton Musashi W)!
Yokai Watch 4 is never coming- and it’s honestly for the best that it doesn’t. A reboot of the series is the best route for them to go due to how many new eyes that it could garner.
As for this though, I’m sort of mixed. The concept seems interesting, but it feels like a massive departure from Yokai Watch as a whole. That- and the popular dance thing kinda feels weird. Especially the apple pen one, given that was an old meme that has been long dead. It wasn’t until they showed the battles and camera that I saw where the Yokai Watch inspiration came from honestly.
Horror? Well... Level-5 and horror... Ushiro. Can they say that they cancelled it already, no?

Man I hope I it gets ported over here. I love yo-Kai watch but it’s sucks that I can’t really play the switch ones and I didn’t get the chance when it was on the 3ds.

A Yokai Watch mansion crawler?
@NinChocolate Doesn’t seem to be a mansion crawler given parts of the game will play outside of the mansion. Out in the city like in the original games.
Also, that's why Level-5 was holding back about this new Yokai game.
They featured Pikotaro PPAP and AvantGardey as the guest stars.
PPAP was a phenomenon, AvantGardey dance was also phenomenon.

I don’t 100% understand what I just watched, but I enjoyed it! Combining objects to make creatures looks fun.

@VoidofLight the Yokai audience since 1 are now already old, so a fresh take was probably a better option. The dances thing is just the Japanese being Japanese. Much of the media there is quirky and random.

Say what you want about Level-5 but I feel convinced that one of the major reasons their game development has been so slow lately (hence the delays) is because of their crazy need to turn almost every new IP into a cross media project right from the start.-_-'
As for the game itself, the idea sounds interesting but I'm not sure how well this will actually do compared to these days modern non-Pokemon monster RPGs that have been released since atleast the late 2010s. Just have to wait and see.

Looks like I called it with the "Ghost Craft" trademark. If they want a wider audience, a basic reboot of the Yo-Kai Watch concept is probably the best approach forward. Not quite sure what I just watched, but I certainly will keep an eye on this.
But...Man do I miss Yo-Kai Watch. It's a shame that 4 never made it West, and later games that did release (like Yo-Kai Watch 3 and the Blasters titles) are now rare and expensive.

@Vivianeat Plus a reboot allows people to get invested with no strings attached. No prior games needing to be played or animes needing to be watched. Just start with the new game that was freshly brought over.
This looks absolutely bizarre. I can’t say I 100% followed what I was looking at in this trailer, but the style looks great and the mechanics sound promising. The absurdist humor in Yo-Kai Watch was kind of the core of the series, so I’m not complaining
As someone who loved yokai watch on the 3DS this is amazing. Also the fact you can fuse ghosts with items to make new monsters is honestly pretty cool. Also I swear I saw the guy doing the apple dance before in jacksepticeye’s funniest home videos dancing with a cat and promoting some lemon soda.
Yo-Kai Watch did what most new IPs trying to be a company's Pokemon do - burn out the players by releasing new games way too fast, usually back-to-back year releases. Not realizing that Pokemon can do that because it's Nintendo's CoD.
