Which albums are in your current rotation? How are you listening to them? This is a judgement free zone. All music is art, and all art has a place in this world.

Hey guys, there's so many ways to listen to music these days. I have CDs in my car. Static Age by Misfits, Liquid Swords by Gza, a weird compilation of Hank Sr. gospel tunes and Mama Says I'm Crazy by Fred McDowell and Johnny Woods. Been listening to several albums by The Dad Horse Experience on my phone, and my daughter demands I plug into a dock and play Bad by MJ near daily. We've also been streaming a lot of Yo Yo Ma cello suites and Koto on Spotify during her art/concentration time. My birthday is coming up, and that's when I allow myself a yearly drop of the needle on my copy of Shakara by Fela Kuti. My living room is the sweet spot. I have a full TEAC rig from the early 90s running into some late 90s Bose surround speakers. I look forward to hear what you're listening to right now.

@bimmy-lee Fela! Yes! Shakara is a great album... Definitely my favorite with Africa 70.
I've actually been listening to Metals by Feist, The Twilight Princess OST, a Sugar Minot compilation and a Rush compilation I put on a CD.

I have my music on shuffle and music varies from Neds Atomic Dustbin to Toots and the Maytals. I don't really listen to anything specifically. I wouldn't say I am on to music as much as gaming (as I would rather listen to in game music while playing).

One time I listened to Madvillain and Trout Mask Replica by Captain Beefheart every day for a year straight. I was working for a digital publisher doing mindless document markup, and I just played them out. I found out later that it was a running joke amongst my co workers because I blasted them so loud on ear buds, they could all hear too. I was embarrassed but not embarrassed.

@NImH - Agreed on Fela. Love that Feist album. I've never listened to Sugar Minot. I'll check them out on streaming. That's pretty much the exact reason I wanted this forum, to find out about new (to me) music. Thanks!

@GrailUK - I love Toots, it's such feel good music even when the songs are about dark subjects. I'm with you from the gaming aspect. I don't like to listen to music over the in game music and sfx. My friends in college always put on albums while we played the 64, and it drove me crazy.

I had a late night last night indulging a Motown itch, just some classic Aretha, Gladys Knight, Four Tops. Can't beat it.

My wife and I ended up making a couple humans after two late night, two person Motown dance parties.

Had to step away yesterday when my water heater started spraying water all over the basement. It gave me a chance to listen to The Black Diamond Heavies while sucking up about 18 gallons of water with my shop vac (same instrument as above, but let's call it the opposite end of the vocal spectrum). I went to a Left Lane Cruiser show years ago, and these guys opened for them. Without knowing a thing about them prior, it ended up being the most accidental fun I've ever had at a live show:

Wow, that beat/rhythm is so fast. I see this is a dub version of the song. Is this Indonesian pop music, like something you would hear on the radio or on TV? Are the women dancing also the singers? I know you like dance and rhythm games, I wonder if this is a high level song on one of those machines.

Edit: @Anti-Matter - I really like traditional music from your country, gamelan has rhythms wildly different from music in the west, but it's always interesting to learn about what's currently popular around the world.

Oh, speaking about Gamelan, there is a song from Dance Dance Revolution Extreme with title Gamelan de Couple by Tomosuke Funaki. That Gamelan song is Gamelan Trance song, Freaky Awesome. Check this out.

Oh, about my first video with title Dub-I-Dub (Eurobeat version) , it was an Eurobeat Remix of original Dub-I-Dub by Me & My, Duo Bubblegum Danish Sisters.
That song was very popular in both Europe and Japan, until make a debut on Dance Dance Revolution 2nd Mix and Dance Dance Revolution X (Better Short version). Here is the Original song.

Eurobeat is one of music genre that popularized by Japanese people, inspired by Hi-NRG and Italiano Disco + Euro synth.
Usually Eurobeat songs sets on 140 - 160 BPM, and those dancers are Para Para Dancer.

Para Para dancers are the Dancers that dancing with routines from Para Para Paradise, one of Dancing machine from Konami back on year 2000 - 2001. Their dance emphasizes on hands and moving to the left and right.

Eurobeat songs theme are Very unique. The themes usually about Racing (Initial D) / Love Ballads / Bubblegum / Remixes / Toho Eurobeat (Used on MaiMai SEGA) / Japanese / etc.

That's all very interesting, and tied nicely back to gaming. I didn't know about electronic gamelan. I've only ever listened to it played on traditional instruments. Should have known though.

Those last two DDR videos are incredible. I can't imagine the amount of practice it would take to reach that level. Incredible.

funny thing is, Trout Mask Replica is probably the WORST album you wanna get caught listening to by laypeople. There's really no way you can explain to somebody what it is and why you're listening to it in a brief and streightforward sentence. I adore that record by the way.

At the moment I'm listening to the new Neil Young archival release called Hitchhiker. It was recorded right after Zuma (1976 I think). It's just Neil playing acoustic and singing - I don't know if this was just a rundown of the songs or it was supposed to be the actual record in its final form (you never know with Neil), but it's exceptional. Most of the songs would later appear on the live albums or on other albums under a different guise, but to hear them in their pure form when NY was at his apex is simply wonderful.

Also, been listening to a couple of very early Primal Scream records and desperately trying to find a Nirvana album (the psychedelic UK band, not the grunge US band) for cheap with no much success so far.

@spizzamarozzi - Field recordings of bull elephants in rut might be an easier explanation than, "You see, it's this terrible, wonderful album that actually causes you real, physical pain in spots; but once you work through that and give it a few listens, it's actually quite interesting."

There are some real nice recommendations to check out in your post. I had several Nirvana albums within reach once, but it was before I knew anything about them and didn't buy. Never seen them in the wild since.

All of my music is in my rotation because I literally rotate my collection. I have a system setup between Music Bee, Last.fm and my phone. When I listen to a song it is logged on last.fm which Music Bee keeps track of. When I sync music to my phone it adds or removes tracks mostly based on how long it has been since I've listened to it and how often I've played it.

Effectively if I listen to a song it'll delete it from my phone next time I sync. How long it takes to get back on my phone depends on how often I've listened to it. If I've listened to a song a lot it'll take longer to get back on my phone. Which is a complicated way of saying that I've setup my music to minimise repeats.

In other words the albums I'm listening to now would be just about everything in my collection. But I'm listening relatively new music that I won't skip more i.e.
