The latest UK charts are in and (surprise, surprise) Sony's delightful 3D platformer that has taken the internet by storm has claimed gold.
Yes, Astro Bot takes the top spot this time, pushing last week's champion Star Wars: Outlaws into second and Hogwarts Legacy into third. Elden Ring has also maintained its presence in the top ten, with the standard and Shadow of the Erdtree editions claiming fourth and ninth respectively. Oh yes, and Concord has made its grand debut at 21st... we wonder how that'll go.
Nintendo, meanwhile, has been a little quiet this week. We have to look right down to eighth for the first Switch-exclusive (no surprises to see that it's Mario Kart 8 Deluxe), and even the top 20 isn't quite as packed with Nintendo titles — though Switch Sports, Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Super Mario Bros. Wonder all make the cut.
Even the Big N's latest, Emio - The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club, is nowhere to be seen this time. Expect Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom to shake things up in the coming weeks.
Here's a look at this week's top 40 in full, with platform breakdowns for all of the titles available on other consoles alongside the Switch:

Deserved imo.
Ey...!
Bluey: The Videogame was on number 22. 😊
Glad to see Astro Bot doing well; it being a success is probably going to make it far more likely we see more projects like this from people besides just Nintendo, which is always a welcome thing. Also nice seeing Mario RPG creep back in there.
Love to see Astro Bot in first and man how I wish it came to Switch's successor even though I doubt it will ever happen (along with Elden Ring - much more likely -, Armored Core VI etc.)!
Anyway, happy to see Hogwarts Legacy still selling better on Switch (and more surprisingly FC 24 as well), 8 Deluxe slightly lower but never stopping etc.!
@JSC016 if you like 3D platformers you will really dig both games I'm sure.
They are even better if you have some history with PS as well because the love for the back catalogue is immense.
@Yousef- very much so. Its a fantastic platformer oozing personality and charm paying homage to past and present playstation characters.
Astrobot’s first place is well deserved. Love the PS has games like this and sackboy among their regular IP’s.
Hope it stays there a while too!
I just hope that Sony now take a long hard look and realise that PS owners dont always need 300k games with a 10 year development cycle. These style of games are a breath of fresh air and sony really need to delve back to some of there dormant IP that have been is stasis forcso long.
Amazing! I have never played an Astro Bot game ever, but the game looks super fun, and it looks like it’s full of charm and love for PlayStation as a whole. The game seems like it’d be up my alley since I love platformer games so much, but I don’t have a PS5 sadly
Fantastic. Astro Bot deserves to stay in the spotlight for a good while; It's certaintly better than ANYTHING else on the list too (Aside from Mario Wonder)
Chris Dring said Astrobot launched 1/3rd less than Ratchet & Clank which launched during the PS5's 1st year when it was supply constrained.
So I think Star Wars poor launch cited by Ubisoft is only really what let it reach #1.
@Dr_Lugae They only counted the sales for that in the UK, and the only reason it doesn't sell well over there is because these bozos don't know anything else other than GTA or Fifa... If it isn't either one of these two games, they simply don't care.
Astro Bot will most likely remain the best selling game for awhile in the rest of the world.. until Zelda arrives, of course.
Awesome to see AstroBot as #1, well deserved!
Astro Bot, the poor man's Mario Bros, comes out after the disasters that were Concord and SW Outlaws. I wonder how the PS5 users are feeling for playing a game that straight copies Mario, and is " for kids", something they always criticize Nintendo aims for their games hahahaha.
Totally deserved for Astro Bot to be #1
@Edu23XWiiU Don't be THAT guy. You sound like you need a hug.
And Sony just announced their $700/£699 PS5pro.
Hey let the PS5 have some fun. It kinda needs it.
Astro Bot is the one of the strongest evocations of old SJS spirit among the recent PlayStation lineup and deserves all the applause it may get. It would be disingenuous to lament any Nintendo releases "yield" higher chart spots to one of Sony's most appreciably Nintendoesque releases in years.
@nhSnork Hopefully we will see more of it on PS5.
Though I don't have a PS5, I'm very happy for Team Asobi and this fantastic looking game. Everyone I've seen who has played it has said that the game is pure fun. It's always great to see more games like this out there.
Astro Bot looks really good, but not enough for me to buy an expensive PS5 console for an exclusive. I'm still in the position where PS4 generally looks 'good enough' for me with a lot of cross gen games, and keeping my money until I see the Switch 2 at this point.
Chart is still a good mix of Nintendo only games and mutiplat Nintendo games.
@Ryu_Niiyama just saw that PS5 Pro price too, £700 with no disc drive... good grief that's expensive.
@Ristar24 Yeah I’m still laughing about it. I had no intention of upgrading my PS5 but woo I am so going back to PC next gen (to replace xbox and PS). For me the value isn”t there for that price. I would rather just upgrade my PC (that has other uses) and be done. Controllers went up in price as well.
Astro Bot is a masterpiece, so well deserved. Most fun I've had with a game since TTYD remake. Also, no DLC or live service, no slog of a story or excessive length ...Just colourful, creative platforming goodness with amazing new ideas and gameplay gimmicks on par with Mario's best hidden around every corner. Finally made me dust off the old PS5 I've only been using for Blu-ray movies recently. Also makes me even more excited for the next 3D Mario.
Wish all non- Nintendo AAA games were like it. Hate the hyper realism, 5000 hour length and live service trends dominating today. Unfortunately, with the recent PS5 Pro breaking any straws left on the smushed camel, Sony has permanently lost a customer no matter how good this game was. It's just been a domino effect for years for me with their company and I'll just ditch it all in favour of just Switch 2 and nothing else next generation.
@Ryu_Niiyama Yep, the cheaper late gen PS3 got me gaming back on PlayStation and I bought the original PS4 around launch, but going on for £800 if you want the to add a disc drive, throw in the PS Plus sub...for a games console, wow.
I'm sure be a lot of discussion over on Push square about it. Still, glad Astro Bot is doing well, it looks great honestly.
Astro Bot needs to do well so it shows them there is an audience for those types of games that aren't these trillion dollar blockbusters that take years and years to make.
Astrobot looks great, first game that makes me want a PS5 tbh. Still don't want to buy a console for one game though, especially with Switch 2 coming next year. Hopefully this a lesson that every game doesn't need to be this massive budget, "cinematic" experience. But outside of what Team Asobi does, I doubt Sony will change.
Wow...Visions of Mana dropped off there fast.
I bet it would have a place if it was on Switch too.
Meh. May not bode well for a Switch 2 port later on.
SWITCH version of HOGWARTS LEGACY still doing good! Impressive.
Also nice for Astro Bot I guess, good lord the ps5 users need a game to play.
Glad for Astro Bot! I definitely want to play it, but am currently playing Trails Through Daybreak on PS5, and since that's like a 100 hour JRPG it'll probably be a few months before I can get to Astro (it'll be my number one priority once I'm done with Trails though, no matter what else comes out).
Currently getting my platforming fix by playing Bakeru on Steam, and having a blast with it. It's a shame that it's going to be buried by bigger names, as this would definitely have a shot at being the year's best platformer if it weren't for Astro Bot (reminds me a lot of Kirby & the Forgotten Land in terms of style, scope, & gameplay).
I bought a PS5 to play Astro Bot, and I gotta say, really worth it.
Who came here after hearing the PS5 pro price?
This is awesome. Astro Bot is easily the best experience I had this year. A game that will make you happy.
I watched the first hour of Star Wars Outlaws, it looked enjoyable.
@Edu23XWiiU You are aware that there's 60 million PS5 consoles out there and that the userbase isn't a hivemind? And that the dinguses that brand Nintendo/Mario "for kids" aren't the ones going out and buying this game, right?
And as someone who's been playing Mario probably since before you were born, this game stands on its own.
I'm glad Astro Bot did well. We will have to see how long it stays the darling of 2024. It's nothing Nintendo haven't been doing for decades and hype for stuff that isn't genuinely original tends to die down.
@Ryu_Niiyama 800 euro and 139 for a disc drive where i come from.
@kfflscnt ouch.
@Rafie You seem like you want to hug me. Thank you, but no thank you. You have your cousin for that,

@Edu23XWiiU I see you're still not grasping that the 60,000,000 PS5 owners are not, a hivemind. Want to try again?
@Edu23XWiiU You can do better than that, can you? That was weak.
