@Polvasti @StarryCiel People tend to overlook 2D Zelda a lot, yeah- but I think the reason why they might be overlooking this even moreso is due to Zelda being a playable character. For many, that makes them feel like this is just a one-off spin-off like Hyrule Warriors and not a brand new 2D Zelda game.

Outside of that, I've seen a myriad of comments on multiple sites stating how tired they are of TotK's direction for the series, and that they hold no interest in this new game since it just seems to be bringing TotK's systems to 2D Zelda. They're upset that the puzzle design won't be as tight because you'll be able to "cheese" the puzzles with the new mechanic. That traditional dungeons won't exist because they seem to be taking from TotK and BotW a lot.

Honestly, I don't think there's anything to worry about. This new system has a limit for how many items you can actually spawn, and the few glimpses of dungeons we did see look a good bit like traditional Zelda dungeons. I doubt we'll get terminals or a lack of mini-bosses like we've had in 3D Zelda for the past 12 years.

The game looks very interesting, and I'm very happy that the princess finally gets her long deserved time in the spotlight. That said, I definitely need to see more gameplay before I can understand what it's about. This very much strikes me as one of those games that I'll need to play myself to see what the game really "feels" like. Does that make sense? There's plenty of games where I can get a firm grasp as to how the game will play from the trailer. As for this one, the concept looks cool from what we've seen, but how it feels to actually play/control is a different story. It's also really cool that we're getting a new 2D entry at all, the last new one was Link Between Worlds on 3DS. 'bout time.

Zeltik has a nice breakdown of the reveal trailer. Worth checking out for sure.

The Lite announcement was the most hype thing for me. Slick af design. Getting it day 1 fo sho. The Zelda game itself is incredibly cute and gorgeous cover art. Will be a very proud physical owner of this. If the game is bundled with the lite tho? Easy 1, 2, punch. This stuff writes itself.

I did receive a YT notification for this. I don't think I'll get to it this evening, but it's definitely on my watch list.

@Henmii it is funny that they started with Link hacking and slashing, taking out three enemies with signature moves, fighting Ganon… and then the gameplay starts up… tables, lots of tables, jump on the tables.. Lol

@NinChocolate Bruh, thats pretty harsh of you, not giving the old bed its due. Don't let the table take all the spotlight.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

@gcunit I was going to continue with ‘beds, more beds, jump on the beds’ but was afraid of belaboring it, lol.

But really, this trailer was great to me because it’s one big bait and switch (there it is) and they’re not hiding it. ‘Oh, you love fighting your way to Ganon with powerful sword moves? That’s your beloved Zelda game? Nope, beds, tables, boxes.. that’s Zelda now!’

im definitely gonna pre order this !!! so excited that our princess has her own game…makes me really want a ganondorf game tho. sigh, nintendo fans are an endless containers of want.
ANYWAYS how much do yall think this will sell? i think it’ll definitely sell more than ten million pretty quickly, since its a NEW zelda and not a remake or remaster. and this is the princess’ debut too…im thinking by the end of switch 1s lifepspan about 17 million. might be a wild guess to

afk for a lot of fall, very busy month! still spying on yall :3

@ThatZeldaNerd like in-game? Probably not. They might do something for the physical version, though.

@NintendoByNature I finally did. Well worth the watch indeed! A pretty thorough analysis. I quite like Zeltik's speculation and theory videos.

I hate to let history repeat itself, but what's everyone's stance on the art direction so far?

Personally, I don't mind it. I was already a fan of the look in the Link's Awakening remake--it was a great reinterpretation of the original look and worked well for the story and themes. If it's use in Echoes is anything to go by, then chances are going to be some weirder moments in this game's plot, which I'm very much down for.

I loved Link's Awakening's style. It is adorable and great. I dare say its underrated, because the original Link's Awakening is one of the most charming Nintendo games, so any remake that even gets close to that level of cute and charming deserves all the credit in the world.

I am kinda iffy on the trees though. I think you could maybe make the case that it fits with the "copy+paste nature of how game assets are used, especially for old games" but they look fake even for the art style its going for, somehow. Like the rest you can go along with as the style, these are just trees you buy for your Zelda toy set, available wherever toys are sold. It's also weird since they had a narrative reason things looked like they did in LA remake, but here its just the style...because. Ok.

But otherwise it is cool.

I don't mind them reusing the game's style. It wasn't a bad style at all in the original game. I just wish that we'd get another new version of Hyrule instead of them reusing the map from LTTP.

I'm not too worried about the overworld, so long as it comes with a new set of dungeons, secrets and traversal mechanics. Most of the 2D Zelda games tend to have the same elements in a different layout, in any case.
