It's been a pretty quiet few days in the world of Nintendo, but as we're all gearing up for a another weekend of gaming, let's take a peek at some of the highlights of the week.
First up, there's a new Nintendo Lego set incoming! Hooray! This one looks spectacular and is essentially a replica of the Mario & Yoshi sprite from Super Mario World. It's gorgeous, but like all Lego, it's got a hefty price tag. Speaking of Lego, Eiji Aonuma also commented on the upcoming Lego Deku Tree from The Legend of Zelda.
Elsewhere, there are new Splatoon 3 amiibo on the way, so that's pretty cool if you're still into the little plastic figurines, while Genius Sonority released The New Denpa Men for free on the Switch eShop (albeit with some dodgy translation issues to boot).
Finally, we asked the age-old question: Are you ready to move on from the Switch yet?
While you have a ponder, take a look at what we're going to be playing over the next few days...

The announcement tease earlier this week from the Blasphemous devs pushed me onto the eShop where I saw that the sequel, which I've been meaning to play for ages, is 50% off at the moment. There are plenty of other things on my list, but that might just jump to the top.
The only thing that might prevent it is my lack of home internet right now and a need to reserve mobile data for work — in which case I'll be doing what I've done every weekend morning throughout July: a single blast through SEGA AGES Out Run followed by a Virtua Racing chaser.

I've been playing quite a bit of Castlevania recently; the original NES games, primarily, but I've also dabbled in a bit of Circle of the Moon and Aria of Sorrow. I love those first few games though, even Simon's Quest; the gameplay is straightforward, but consistently engaging, and the music is simply sublime.
Otherwise, again, I'm not playing a great deal at the moment. It's a quiet time for us all, I think, and I don't know about you, but I'm itching for some new hardware news.

This weekend, I will be playing [REDACTED] and [REDACTED], and having a grand old time with at least one of them. But they're for review, so I can't say anything more.
I also have been dipping my game-toes into a Steam game called The Planet Crafter, which plays a lot like Subnautica-meets-Astroneer. It's very... um... I don't know? It's all about collecting resources, and building things out of them, and then collecting more, but that's ALL I'm doing. There's a terraforming aspect to it, so I think it'll get more fun as I form more of the terras. We'll see!
My partner has just jumped back into Elden Ring, after one of our friends visited (who knows EVERYTHING about the game) and convinced him to keep trying, showed him new areas to go to, and basically helped to unstick him from the bit he was in. So, I've also been watching a lot of that. He just unlocked an outfit made of human skin. It's real nasty!

Good stuff on the eShop this week: The Portuguese developed Exophobia is finally out, having followed up all the development cycle of this first-person metroidvania with a heavy dash of 8-bit aesthetics was quite a ride. And jut in the country over, Spanish developed Super Woden GP II was also released, at last brining the sequel to this hardcore isometric racer on Nintendo’s hardware. Skipping SNK vs. Capcom SVC Chaos because I prefer to grab a physical edition down the line. On the non-Nintendo side of things, it’s all about completing 2015’s Mad Max on PC.
Game of the week is unsurprisingly still Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown - Deluxe Edition. I’m currently hunting for all hidden ace pilots to get their plane liveries but I must pace myself somewhat because I need to work on my Summer Live DJ set which I hope to release in the next few weeks. Show must go on!

The Switch is taking a backseat this weekend as I plan to go all-in on the 3DS. I’ve been plugging away at A Link Between Worlds for a little while now, saving another Sage and then turning to something else for a bit. But it’s time to knuckle down and see things through to the end (again).
If I do manage to polish it off, I picked up Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia a few months back and haven’t put nearly enough time into it. Maybe I’ll finally get round to training up a team I can be proud of, or maybe I’ll spend too much time fiddling about in those dungeon-exploring sequences and forget to do any tactical planning whatsoever. It’s definitely going to be the latter, isn’t it?
That's what we have planned for the weekend, but what about you? You can let us know what game you'll be maining in the following poll and then take to the comments to share what else you have on the cards.

I am once again thrown in the Souls pit. I started Dark Souls 1 again and I just beat Ornstein and Smough. Why are these games so damn good?!
The games I decided to play if master Miyazaki lets me are:
Pokemon HeartGold (Totodile is chosen and ready to destroy some gyms!),
Project Warlock AND after MANY delays the Claire A/Leon B run in Resident Evil 2 (N64)!
Have a wonderful weekend fellow gamers!!!
Finished Ginsha.
A very good Metroidvania that I enjoyed.
Started Steamworld Heist after I got it on sale.
Thoroughly enjoying it so far, nice change of pace.
Bought Grime off Super Rare Games which I'm looking forward to getting.
Also started one of my many Cube games I own.
Playing Geist which I wish Nintendo would go back to.
Have a great weekend everyone
Nintendo Switch:
UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH II [Sys:Celes] – completed Arcade Mode as Uzuki! Unlocked almost all of her win quotes. Unlocked all of the other characters' new win quotes against Uzuki. Played VS Mode.
BIOHAZARD REVELATIONS – farming BPs and EXP in Raid Mode. Leveled up to 41st level, if I'm not mistaken.
The New Denpa Men RPG FREE! – stopped on tutorial, lol.
CHAOS CODE -NEW SIGN OF CATASTROPHE- tried to beat 4th level in Rui's Farm (mini game) numerous times, but still failed.
UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH Exe:Late[cl-r] – played 10 matches online in Player Room. Delay-based netcode works decent there too!
Windows:
No More Rooms In Hell – played with my best friend.
Well, for now, it's all what I've played on this week. Have a nice gaming weekend, everyone.
Btw, delay-based netcode is really overhated.
Keeping simple in between doing things outdoors as weather is nice.
LM2 HD.
Tonight I'm seeing my friends, we'll play mostly D&D.
Tomorrow I'll continue with my schedule of alternating between:
I’m still working my way through my backlog of games that I never got around to finishing the first time around. With Metroid Dread and Luigi’s Mansion 3 wrapped over the past few weeks, I’m now ready to move onto the next game. And I’m thinking something Game Cube flavoured.
After only getting around five hours into it at release last year before getting distracted by something else, Metroid Prime Remastered is definitely a strong candidate, but I’m actually leaning towards Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. It’ll be my first Mario RPG since Partner’s in Time, which I adored, and I really want to see if this one also clicks with me.
Princess Peach Showtime!: Like so many, I've been itching for a Peach playable adventure and this is both a vibrant and cleverly inventive one. It's great to see Princess Toadstool in the spotlight and hopefully she'll get another chance soon.
I just got UMVC3 on my Vita. I haven't played this one, and I'm just itching for that Mahvel collection, so I picked it up. Definitely not my favorite roster so far, but it's hard to beat the old games. Other than that, maybe some Sonic Racing Transformed, since my Vita is traveling with me.
My weekend is Mon-Weds (I pull four 10-12 hour shifts), but if you have a weekend, enjoy!
During the week I finished Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope (so much fun, as if it was a Nintendo game) and picked up Persona 4 Golden from where I left off some months ago, in game July. I enjoy it much more than before.
Bo for me! I'm not sure I can finish it this weekend but if so, going with Okami after that. Happy gaming everyone!
Well Eiyuden Chronicle is finally patched to a playable state so I'll play a lot of that! Just got to the castle.
A store close to me had a nintendo sale so i grabbed princess peach showtime and mario vs donkey kong for about a decent price.
Also grabbed You suck at parking on switch and klonoa on ps5.
Might play showtime or klonoa if i need a break from Eiyuden
I'm both at home and fairly healthy for the first time in a few weeks, so relaxing with some new and old games. Happy weekend and gaming everyone.
This week I will be mostly hunting
Master Kohga
I finished Rusted Moss two days ago (fantastic metroidvania, I highly recommend it) so now I'm playing World of Goo which is pretty good but it's not blowing me away, I'm halfway through so I might be able to finish it this weekend and if so I'll probably start Arranger, I also went back to play more Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble because they released a patch yesterday that fixed the 50hz unity bug and the game is so much smoother now, still has some frame drops in a few levels (the ones with portals in particular) but it's still a major improvement and now I can recommend the game with no strings attached, if you've been on the fence with the game because of the 50hz bug then now is a great time to jump in
Have a good weekend everyone
Taking a break from Paper Mario: TTYD to play a shorter game off of the backlog, and I have reached for Furi
Early impressions are not the best, and in fact I think that name might have been a self fulfilling prophecy. I’ve only fought the first boss of 7 but I cannot believe some of the decisions that have been made by developers. This boss is 10 minutes of tutorial, and then only susceptible to certain attacks when they telegraph their moves. Meaning the player not only needs to memorize how to evade attacks, but also know the pattern to damage him. Also if you screw it up the boss regains his health!
So I’ve set it to easy, and beat it on my first try. Lol
This is probably the first week in a while where I'm really unsure on what to play right now. Just took care of both Metroid Prime (an absolutely phenomenal translation of the series into 3D) and Final Fight 2 (weaker than the first but still a good time overall) earlier on in the week so trying to decide what to play now has me scratching my head a little bit. Might try and take care of some titles that have lingered in my backlog though like Sonic the Hedgehog 1, Devil May Cry 4 or Behold the Kickmen ^_^
Picked up New Star GP in the sale on Switch and I really like the game, aside from the performance which is a bit disappointing. Reminds me of playing Pole Position 2 on my C64, or F1 on the Mega Drive. It's certainly playable on Switch, but I might also get the PS4 version for TV play if it runs better.
May also play some No Man's Sky, downloaded the latest patch last night and the Switch version has improved so much since launch. It may not have a hope to match the current gen, but for a Switch game it looks great now and has much better atmosphere. I did have the game at launch on PS4, so to see even the Switch version where it is now, is quite impressive.
@_Figo_ That's great to hear about Banana Rumble, I might get this one now so thanks for posting the info.
I’ll be opening up some more of Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition. I love how this game is showing people cool shortcuts and secrets from NES games. Very well written game.
It’s Sword of the Vagrant and Tchia seeds for me

Backlog
Metroid Dread and Disco Elysium are competing for my attention and esteem this weekend
Oh, y'know, the usual... Splatoon 3, F-Zero 99 and Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
I'm still dipping into Nintendo World Championship: NES Edition and Stitch. On top of that, I've been playing Dragon Quest Builders, Rush Rally 3 and Forza Horizon 4.
Balatro Balatro Balatro. I have all the decks unlocked but still have a few vouchers and Jokers to unlock. Then there's the challenges... Oh Balatro, will you ever release me ?
Continuing ACNH again, started Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity after a few years away, and that's kinda it for now.
I've been playing through PowerSlave Exhumed for the last few days and I'm up to the 2nd last stage. The game is superb and plays like a 90's Metroid Prime. It can be a little confusing at times but then so can Prime.
Once I've finished with that, I'm going to tackle one from the backlog. Either Devil May Cry 3 or Bioshock.
I’d like to finish Bo and the Path of the Teal Lotus this weekend and start Nobody Wants to Die. Maybe toss some Elden Ring in there. Maybe though.
I haven't settled on anything for this weekend yet, but I'm leaning towards Ni No Kuni II. I've only played about 2 hours so far to get a feel of it, and I have liked it so far. I was a little bummed the battle mechanics have changed, but I'll give it some more time to see if it can hook me much like the original.
Still slowly making my way through Dungeons of Hinterberg in Xbox too. The more I play it, the more I feel this would have been a perfect game for the switch. Maybe in a year's time, much like Planet of Lana, we'll see it on our platform.
This weekend I'm following a training.
In my free time, I will continue playing through my favourite game, Bayonetta. I got my platinum medals for all of the chapters in hard mode, and that was pretty satisfying. I thought I may have to give up on Isla Del Sol and the Epilogue but that wasn't the case. The Lumen Sage was actually the toughest to get good combos on.
I've started playing through the lost chapter Angel Slayer, and made it to stage 7 of verse 3 so far. I'll keep playing that until I make it to the end. I'm not so confident I'll do a better score than the last time (silver rank), so when I clear it, I'll be happy.
Happy weekend, happy gaming 🎮 and much love 🧡
Got further into Darkest Dungeon than I thought I would, impressed at how many deeply unfair elements just keep getting added as you progress. Built up a decent character? Well, now they think that mission you were saving them for is beneath them and won't go. Is there anything in this game, including curing diseases, that won't give you a disease? No. No there isn't. I promise I'm having a good time but there's some real dedication to making quite a lot of people dislike your game right there.
Oh, and DQXI is still my happy place (56 hours!) and got treated to Bo: Path Of The Teal Lotus, looking forward to bouncing around in that for a while looking at gorgeous scenery and probably being quite bad at it. Have a very nice weekend, y'all.
More Switch storage shuffling this weekend, this time merely to reinstall Outer Worlds (even though I thought I'd resume it after I finally buy the DLC) and maybe something else like Kingdoms of Amalur, Palia or Layers of Fear 2, depending on how much more I get to begrudgingly shelve. Other hybrid plans involve the usuals like Xenoblades, RFs and Isaac, Civ 6 and Epic Chef, Dredge and Dave the Diver, First Departure and Crystar, Potion Permit and Dying Light... all these plans traditionally on top of other platform itches like Eternia/Dissidia/Monster Monpiece on Vita, Unwound Future/Luigi's Mansion/Chase Begins on 3DS and Watch Dogs/Arise/Horizon on Deck. PS4 may see some action across IaF, MotorStorm and NFS2015 as well.
Playing various demos on Steam Deck. It's nice to dabble and not have to commit. The game that I do commit to is still TTYD.
Have a good weekend everyone!
Beat Metroid Samus Returns (3DS) at 100% last weekend. Excellent Metroid game.
Picked up Star Ocean: First Departure R and was hooked by nostalgia. Will mix in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (Chapter 8) and Paper Mario TTYD (Chapter 7). Happy gaming!
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door: possibly do some stuff at the Pianta Parlor or at the Pit of 100 Trials
Pikmin 4: started a new file recently, this game is SO GOOD! Collecting treasures is really satisfying, I’m getting somewhat close to getting them all.
Nintendo Switch: final level on The Messenger. I’ve enjoyed my time with it (especially the writing, graphics and music), but I’m ready to be done with it
PS5: final boss on Sifu - playing through the first levels again first to bring my age down
Finished Little Kitty Big City, great game, when on sale. Rocket League and Unleashed 2.
Happy gaming everyone!
@FishyS thank you for your comment about Bo, I was a little concerned about difficulty level, but I think I can do it.
I've been introducing the classics to my four-year-old and three-year-old, so we'll continue playing Super Mario 64 and perhaps Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (for the SNES; the GBA remake is zoomed in too close to play comfortably), as they both like Yoshi. Throw in some casual rounds of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and you have yourself a great gaming weekend with the kids.
Dipping into NSO for some old school Metroid.
First week of senior year done yay me!
animal crossing new leaf- With school starting again Im going to need a relaxing game to play.
ridge racer DS- Have not played this game in years. I played it last night and played for an hour without realizing.
fallout 4- my other comfort game.
Doing a minimalist% challenge run in Zelda TOTK.
Finished the TTYD remake (I like it more than the original) but instead of moving straight on to Tomb Raider 3 and its DLC, I figured I'd return to Pac-Man World Re-Pac in case the next Direct has a Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac announcement.
After playing another 40 hour stint of TOTK, I finally beat the lightning temple, got the master sword, got all the memories, got all of the ancient tablets on the floating flower islands and I’ve just left Link at Lookout Landing, ready to head to Hyrule Castle…
… and now I’m leaving it for a month or two to continue my strategy of dragging the game out for as long as possible. Now playing ‘Shin Chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation’ and I’m loving it. Perfect summer chill game.
Earlier this week I finished Metroid Dread (hard mode replay) and Cuphead and so I'm in the mood for some more 2D goodness:
Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course (Xbox One X)
Metroid Zero Mission (Switch)
Goodboy Galaxy (Evercade)
Demons of Asterborg (Evercade)
I might also pick up Elevator Action Returns S-Tribute in the sale on the PS5!
I'm playing through ACA Vs. Valkyrie (the original is one of my favorite Famicom games, so I'm surprised and delighted to see it pop up in a form I can get on Switch!), and getting back into picking away at Steam Prison.
I'm going to go to the cinema and watch a Star War this weekend
I’ll be spending most of my time this weekend playing SNK Vs Capcom: SVC Chaos. I wouldn’t call myself good at fighting games (other than Skullgirls), but I’ve been interested in this game for quite some time and would like to be better at it, especially since it has Metal Slug representation (a franchise I am very fond of) with Mars People. I’m starting with Terry, and I would like to get all of the endings. It will be a long, fun challenge!
On the side, I’ll be continuing chapter 6 in The Thousand Year Door, and continuing my journey in Dragon Quest III. I have opened Sea of Stars within the past week, but I don’t know where to go next after meeting the pirate crew at Brisk. I suppose I’ll just rely on a guide for that somewhere.
@calbeau That’s awesome! Gotta teach em about the good old days of gaming when they’re young
No! Don't throw me back into vampire survivors! Please! NOOOOOOOOO!
I'm visiting friends and family and the only games I'm playing are Azul and Bananagrams. Azul is a pretty good table top game with different colored chips and multi-round points build up. Also been enjoying Mary Oliver, a book about a famous Native American potter/artist, and Becoming Earth: how our planet came to life, which is an awesome page turner science book written with grace and great heart. I've loved learning about micro- and macro-organisms creating soil, caves, metal veins, and possibly affecting plate tectonics. About to jump into the chapter about water.
I've also watched some Stranger Things, which is fun because I like comparing the depths to the upside down.
I've also watched some YouTube videos wondering what schema stones (by which Youtubers) I'll find next once I'm able to dive back into the second quest.
Have fun everyone, and take care out there!
As usual, I’ll be playing mostly kid-friendly games during the weekend, and the more mature or “boring” games when the kiddos aren’t around.
So we’re continuing our first virtual trip along the Oregon Trail, which has kept the kids attention more than I expected - it’s been an interesting study on mortality as we cheer on our last two surviving emigrants.
If the journey west ends abruptly, we’ll probably return to Paper Mario: TTYD.
The “boring” game (aka “geeky” game I like that the kids don’t) I’m playing is still Darkest Dungeon, though I’ve had an urge to hyperspace jump back into No Man’s Sky and see if I can re-learn how to play it. 😅
Wishing everyone a fun weekend! 🕹👾
On Switch
It's going to be another busy weekend for me, so I won't be investing in anything too heavy. I'm trying to make a push at clearing my backlog, so...
Cyber Shadow is on the menu. Just got to Area 6. I'm gonna make a run at beating it this this weekend. Simply playing this game is a joy that transports me back to what I remember best about the NES days. It's soul food for me.
StarTropics
Speaking of soul food, this is one I return back to every so often. Starting as a game I was aware of, but only got in place of Chip 'N' Dale Rescue Rangers because I could not find back that the day, it remains an enduring, endearing mistake that I'll never forget. I've beaten it countless times, so I'm playing it for the memories. I'm starting Chapter 5. This is my weekend retro throwback for this week. I'll be glad when they decide to put StarTropics 2 on NSO. Really baffling it's not there already.
Abathor demo
I will save this for when/ if my gamer friend comes through this weekend.
Rocket League
Seeing the release of the Cybertruck, and some footage I caught on my local news channel, I'm really inclined to give this a play again. I'm sure most of my skills have eroded, but like all things, if you play it enough, you'll get your skills up.
The new Wolverine skin in Fortnite is sick. I’m going to be running around with just my pickaxe, and by that, I mean…SNIKT!
In anticipation for the recently announced sequel, Emio - The Smiling Man, I finished the Nintendo Switch remake of Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind. Having played the Super Famicom remake a while ago, my appreciation towards the Switch remake grew considerably. The new CG illustrations, the animations, the newly arranged soundtrack, and voice acting all came together to create a stellar experience. Other than the few frustrating instances of guessing, it's a fantastic game with a story that withstood the test of time.
@MeloMan
Thanks for the heads up about the Abathor demo! I will have to check that out as it’ll be months before my physical copy arrives.
This reminds me I should play a quick game of Magic Sword on Capcom Arcade vol.2 this weekend.
I'm not playing anything now as I'm actually watching the Olympics. I'll probably play some more Dying Light on PC this evening though once the Olympic coverage for today is over.
The Phantom Hourglass. I’m slowly making my way through it. And it’s not that I don’t like it, it’s just I don’t feel like the world has drawn me into it yet. So it’s easy to do some little piece and then walk away from it.
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games 2020 and Kirby Triple Deluxe
Switch - Moonstone Island, of course, which is getting a free cooking update at the end of the month. Also, i forgot to mention i went through the first Toree game,Toree3d last week. Really good 3d platformer for 1 dollah.
I picked up Epyx Rogue, and love it, except for a nasty glitch which i don’t have much hope will get patched.
And i’ve been playing a little bit of The New Denpa Men, which my partner adores, but i am finding hard to stick with.
PC- Finally finished Shadow of Mordor on PC. I will start the sequel, but if it’s not a drastic improvement over the first game, will drop it.
Take Care and have a good week!
I would've been playing One Piece Odyssey... I can't even afford to buy it right now cos both my wife's car and my car have broke down on us and I'm having to pay a crap ton of $$$$$$$$ to get those stupid things running. Man, I would've had One Piece day one and been playing it already. Life sucks.
In my spare time I beat Pokemon Fire Red Rocket Edition a second time. After one playthrough a few weeks ago, I craved more and went for a second, only this time I got an Umbreon early in the game and EV grinded and beat Red in the first (supposedly unwinnable) battle against him. The writer clearly didn't think I was supposed to win and it accused me of using cheat codes, which I didn't! 😅 Pretty funny dialogue, excellent experience gains, and really bolstered my money in a game where money is sparse. Gee, I wish I could find a Red irl and beat him up with my pets for money.
Important Edit: my wife saw I was down in the dumps and scaped together some tips she had and bought One Piece Odyssey for me!!! Ya know, I may have bad luck in general, but I think I spent all my good luck on getting the best woman ever. Worth it.
Not as much gaming time as I'd like this weekend due to a very full Sunday, but I'll still fit some in.
Happy gaming!
I'm hoping to finish Xenoblade 3, if not this weekend, then sometime next week. And then, before I jump into Future Redeemed, I need to finish the catalog in Splatoon 3 before the season ends.
Yoshi's Wooly World on Wii U. The graphics still look awesome today and I hope it gets a Switch port. Almost finished the game 100%
Splatoon and Balatro!
@wazlon My favorite game in the Yoshi series. Enjoy it!
This past week I beat both Famicom Detective Club games for the first time. They aren’t long, and not nearly as interactive as Ace Attorney, but the stories are really engaging and they’re absolutely worth playing for visual novel fans. Looking forward to playing Emio next month!
But now that that’s over, it’s back to Ace Attorney with The Great Ace Attorney: Adventures on Switch. I’m currently on Episode 2: The Adventure of the Unbreakable Speckled Band. Looking forward to the Dances of Deduction with Sholmes and Ryunosuke…whoever thought of that was a true genius.
On Switch, I’m trying to finish the Animal Well postgame. Fantastic experience! On PC, I’m getting started with Kunitsu-Gami!
@OorWullie I always liked the look of Powerslave back in the day, the good ol’ days, of magazines lol. I’m currently playing Quake II and loving it.
I finally made it to January in Persona 3 Reload on PS5, so...probably gonna make my way to the end. I'm working on prepping my team (level 99 via the Reaper) and Persona Fusion (Messiah, Orpheus Telos, etc.) so I'm all ready. I want to try the Elizabeth fight as well but so far I'm unprepared for that.
For switch: Beat paper Mario ttyd around a couple of weeks ago. Just beat the optional/superbosses in it a few days ago. Man, the pit of trials is annoying 😂. The new superbosses are quite challenging. Just beat Golden Sun the lost age a few days ago too and beat all superbosses the day after. Don’t know how I was able to beat the hardest superboss in it with my level 😳. Glad I did. Don’t know if I will ever do the third and final golden sun game after hearing about it but I am not seeking it out nor do I have any intention to now. Now I am starting the second Baten Kaitos game which is a prequel to the first one. Beat the first one on switch a while ago. Combat is taking some time to get used to compared to the first game oddly enough but it seems good. Playing a little bit of Megaman battle network collection here and there. Doing part 4 red sun mainly. It’s not a backlog game though or anything.
For non switch: I am playing drakengard 3 now. Maybe I will do bravely default 1 on 3ds but I am not crazy about that game. 😂.
Been playing Baldur's Gate 3 for few weeks now, Some ways into Act 2 by now. But that's taking a bit of a backseat now that Earth Defense Force 6 released, I've been playing that with a friend and as always its just dumb fun shooting endless hordes of goofy enemies and collecting and trying out new weapons.
I've been wanting a physical cart of super Metroid for a while and finally picked one up yesterday. I'm not even an hour in but, I feel like I'd normally have died alot by now and have been pleasantly surprised that I'm still at zero! Mother Brain will set me straight when i get there, normally die quite a bit.
playing luigis mansion 2 while waiting for my physical copy of ace combat 7 deluxe edition arrive in mail.
@AmplifyMJ I somehow missed anything about PowerSlave back in the day. When it come to Switch, the name was new to me... The game has surprised me, it's much more like Metroid Prime than it is Doom or Quake.
Enjoy Quake 2. Superb game, completed it a while back. Not sure if I like 1 or 2 better.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Post-game material, like collecting extra badges, Pit of 100 Trials, and filling out the Zess T. recipe list (my least favorite part of the game...))
Super Mario RPG
Mario Strikers Battle League (grinding for coins just to get every piece of gear for every character)
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble (just got that game for my birthday)
Spark the Electric Jester 3 (Released on Switch a couple days ago, enjoying this Sonic-inspired game so far)
I’ve been playing Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage! on my phone alongside a few of the games I am already playing. It’s a pretty fun and addicting rhythm game that I’ve been playing for nearly two years, and it has a pretty great selection of Japanese music and fun gameplay, though the tapping registration is awful at times and the game lags and interrupts gameplay. I’ve been trying to get higher scores and full combos on a few new songs on there since I hadn’t been playing it recently. I play on Expert mode (which is one of the harder difficulty levels) but there are easier difficulty levels you can play on, so even beginners and casual players can enjoy the game too. Though, if you are going to play it, get the Japanese version if you can, cuz the English version isn’t up to date with the Japanese version and lacks some songs and content.
For what I’ll be playing next, I’ll be playing Conker’s Bad Fur Day via Rare Replay on the Xbox since a game club I’m apart of is going to be playing that throughout August. Pretty excited to revisit it again.
Nintendo World Championship, and Live a Live. I think I'm going to fire up the ol wii u and play Wind Waker tonight. On xbox, I'm kind of at a standstill as I haven't decided what to play yet.
World of Warcraft Mist of Pandria Remix (PC) Less then 30 days left of this event so I am feeling the crunch now to get stuff done.
That's probably it for me this weekend as I will be also watching the Olympics.
Both TVs will be showing the Olympics (we've got slalom replays going on one and live men's volleyball on the other, right now. Congrats to France on that Rugby Sevens Gold!).
So any gaming will be handheld and minimal. I think I'll start up Etrian Odyssey Untold on 3DS, and do some grinding while these athletes paddle upstream.
Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster (Series X)
-Beautiful remaster of the game that streamlines the convoluted PC controls of the original so there is no longer any barrier to enjoyment. A glorious game that makes me miss LucasArts deeply.
Dragon Quest 6 (SNES)
-Grinding away at mastering job classes before going after the legendary armaments.
Not much to speak of on Switch lately. It's been a good year for 1997 remakes. I finally beat FFVII: Rebirth after 122 hours. Great game, highly recommended! It's full of general Final Fantasy weirdness and a plot that doesn't make a hell of a lot of sense, but I sure enjoyed it. Huge improvement in every way over FFVII Remake. The combat is excellent and challenging.
I also played the Riven remake. Excellent as well, and absolutely beautiful. Shame it's not getting more attention. The changes are pretty substantial and the puzzles are much improved over the original. I'm now inspired to play Obduction and/or Myst III: Exile and I'm reading the first Myst book, which is also pretty good so far.
Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate (3DS) - In the mood for a decent metroidvania and this will somewhat fit the bill.
Uncharted: Golden Abyss (Vita) - Onto chapter 7 in my Hard playthrough.
NBA Jam (Windows Phone) - Still playing a few games of this a week as well.
Nothing too much on the Switch this weekend. Will just finish up Apollo Justice Collection.
Finishing Uncharted 4 on PS5. On chapter 20 right now.
Pokémon Violet so I could nab one of each of Tatsugiri's shiny forms, a bit of NES Championships (S-ranked all Kid Icarus stages), and just a little bit of Splatoon 3 (as I had picked up the revised physical release with the DLC on the cart).
Good morning. 😊
I played Go Vacation on Switch since yesterday.
I tried to level up my character quickly by chasing the present box dropped by aeroplane on every resort i visited and i prefer Marine resort to explore.
One present box dropped by aeroplane is worth for 1500 points, 4500 points for golden present box.
This game was since from Wii era in year 2011.
I still like to play Go Vacation just for having nice walk and enjoy the view from the resort i visited despite i rarely play the activities over there as they felt like challenging mini games with a lot of things to do.
Kind of between games right now waiting for a new computer to come in. Might rush out a run of Girl Who Stands Behind tomorrow or something, I dunno.
I might play some F-Zero 99 if I'm feeling up to it.
I decided to make some progress on SMTV Vengeance. I’m already past where I stopped in the vanilla version. The QoL changes and new demons are neat. I wish it looked as decent in handheld mode as it does in TV mode.
I have been playing through Paper Mario TTYD on Switch and have been having a really good time.
I played it way back in the day on GameCube but it has been almost two decades so I am enjoying rediscovering how good the game was again.
Wife and I are playing tmnt splintered, I'm on raven beak of dread mode metroid dread, and may get Bo...
Good ol' Contra on the NES and some Origami King if I have the time.
This weekend is all about speed!
Continuing my analogue pocket binge over the last month, this weekend I have so far finished sonic advance and moved on the f-zero: GP Legends where I’m just finishing up story mode. Just managed to crack the notoriously hard Black Shadow mission so I should be home free!
To keep on theme I’ll be gaming whilst watching the formula one on the telly hoping McLaren take home the 1, 2 win in Belgium.
If I have time I’ll probs jump into fzero 99 to see how I fare.
Happy gaming all.
Wondering if I should play Bo or Nine Sols. Two new beautiful meyroidvanias that seem similar in some ways.
Would be happy for some input if anyone's played both.
Mother 3. Then Mother 1+2. I just beat Porky yesterday, and ima destroy the masked man this afternoon. Then Giegue/Giygas it is!
@Satamer ...final boss on Sifu - playing through the first levels again first to bring my age down
Oh, do I know what you mean. I played the first levels many times so I could start the Museum level at age 20. I had to do that because Kuroki would take up quite a few deaths. Very helpful that the elevator goes straight to her. After enough times I was happy to start the last level at 32 which was enough for me to beat the final boss. Then had to do it all over again to spare the bosses to get the true ending. The gameplay is so fun I had a blast attempting that challenge. I love the game so much I still do runs just for fun to see what age I could beat it without using any shortcuts.
Well here we go with another awesome WAYP. Been a cool week around here. Just been doing more work on the games of the summer. Got to try Arranger thanks to Netflix tho and that game is amazing and adorable I see it’s only like 5 hours long and that may be like the first game I play fully on my phone. Dabbled in some Under Night In Birth 2 Sys: Celes and the new character Uzuki and she’s so fun and that game is definitely on GOTY contender lists. Did some more Dawntrail and I gotta say that expansion is finally clicking. Don’t get why people hate it I really don’t. The rest of the weekend will just be a Persona 3 Reload weekend I think. We’re finally in November so all that leaves is December and January. Snagged all those things I talked about in the last WAYP like the Tekken 8 season pass and the Guilty Gear Strive Season 4 Season Pass. And the previously mentioned UNIST 2 Season Pass too. And a copy of Star Wars Outlaws. Got to play some Lidia Sobieska for Tekken and honestly she’s so much fun it’s great they added her in 8 after she was so forgotten in 7. Picked up another pack of PSN cards this week tho and that bundle is gonna go to probably my last digital preorders for now which will be the Deluxe Edition of Dragon Ball Sparking Zero and Shadows of the Damned Hella Remastered. Think I may also make a attempt to pick up a copy of Tokyo Xanadu Ex+ too. Very excited about that Dragon Ball tho it gets 3 day early access AND the season pass for that game. Otherwise I’m thinking this week is mostly gonna consist of some Paper Mario, more P3R and some Stellar Blade, Monster Hunter Stories, Trails Through Daybreak, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, FFVII Rebirth, Kunitsu Gami and countless others I’m probably missing ahahaha. Goal is same as before just clear out most or all of the first half of years of games before the second half really kicks off. Definitely gotta think about how to tackle games like Dragons Dogma 2 or Rise of the Ronin. Still incredibly hype for WWE Summerslam too that’s gonna be so hype on Saturday I seriously can’t wait for Solo Vs Cody, Rhea Vs Liv, LA Knight Vs Logan Paul, CM Punk Vs Drew McIntyre with Special Guest Referee Seth Freaking Rollins and so many more seriously it’s like 10 matches so far. Excited to see more Jacob Fatu in action and maybe the Return of Roman Reigns and maybe just maybe some Wyatt Sicks spookiness? Anime of the week gotta go to Kaiju No.8, Oshi No Ko, Delicious in Dungeon, Plus Sized Elf and Urusei Yatsura of course. Plus Sized Elf is wonderfully perfectly silly and I recommend it highly. Finished off Kaiju No 8 and Urusei Yatsura and I’ll just say this Kaiju No 8 was pretty good and had some cool things going down in it but Urusei Yatsura? A genuine work of art that was absolutely beautiful and I think everyone should check out and I hope to one day proudly own all of it. Podcasts of this week gotta go to Castle Superbeast, Big Think Dimension, Into The Aether, RPGsites Tetracast, Minnmax, Jeff Gerstmann, Kit and Krysta, Last Stand Media, Easy Allies, Second Wind, Nextlander, Cultaholic Wrestling, Aetheryte Radio and Remap Radio. Think I’ll try to enjoy some of the Olympics that are on and I hope all of yall do too. Rooting for Team USA Basketball, Skateboarding and Swimming baby. Bring home the Gold everyone. As always yall stay safe, be incredible to each other. Have a terrific weekend and of course Happy Gaming.
I'm finishing Lunar on PSP. A little YS: 9
finishing off my replay of all Resident Evil games on ps5. currently fighting Mother Miranda in Village. thoroughly enjoyed this game.
also Switch Sports soccer because for some reason this game has my nuts in a vice. the community is just awful and i don't know why i keep playing. currently ranked ♾️4
May get in a couple games this weekend, but mostly just watching the Olympics. USA USA USA!
Dusted off the Wii U tonight and played Mario Party 10 and Nintendo Land with the family. Fun times.
@OorWullie I remember getting Quake for Sega Saturn for Christmas back in the day, that seemed like an impossible port at the time. I loved it, so I have a soft spot for Quake 1, it was a joy to play it again after all these years on Switch, such a quality version! I beat Quake 2 just recently and I’m working through Call of the Machine, excellent game, excellent remaster.
@Ganner yeah, the museum is certainly the toughest to keep the deaths down in! I’m having a great time with it now that I’ve figured out the parrying rhythm!
@Satamer Yeah it took a while for me to get it down and what I love about it is that even when you get better it will still challenge you unexpectedly.
You may have already but you need to check out this video. It completely clarified and changed everything for me on understanding what's going on. Most especially the difference in dodging vs. parrying. Dodging seems a lot better to manage than parrying everything. I didn't watch the boss portion(s) until I tried and died a lot of times but even with help it was still a challenge.
