SNK Announces ACA NEOGEO Selection Vol. 1 And Vol. 2 For Switch

Local releases (if they happen) will most likely be from the usual suspects: LRG and Pix'n Love.

As for the games themselves, all I can say is this isn't for me. If they were ACA NEOGEO collections of The King of Fighters, Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting and Samurai Shodown, that would be a different story.

EDIT: Aren't Fatal Fury 2 and Garou swapped in the listing? If not, why is Vol.1 using a Garou image and Vol.2 a Fatal Fury image?

unless they go all out like with digital eclipse or M2's stuff (barring the darius collections: C ) with extra features and stuff i dont rly see the point in buying this. MAME is easier to set up then a toaster and the aca neogeo games dont really take up all that much space to begin with, plus the library line up is super weird. Why are X and 4 the only Metal Slug games on this? I can appreciate the mindset behind these but id rather just get a new metal slug collection from m2 that has the 6th game on it, since that one hasn't seen the light of day for almost 20 years lol.

Cool if you want a physical version of these titles on Switch, but I honestly love how even the most obscure NEO GEO Titles barely anyone knows are purchasable on Switch and other systems digitally. Compilations always seem to be the same games or don't sell well enough to do a volume 2-3 in every region.

It's not a great selection. Only 2 KoF, one Fatal Fury game and they're not even grouped well.

Seriously?! NEO•GEO MVS versions again?! It's such a garbage joke, SNK! PS2 NEO•GEO Online Collection exists! Will be better if they will port this collection, instead of this cheap and lazy cash grab!

Nah, It's too late in the game. I have a bunch of these already digitally. I'd never never double dip. It would of been pretty neat if they gave us all of the Fatal Fury(Arcade Archives/Neogeo games) in a physical compilation release, but alas.

It's about time they finally do this for Switch but why now and not 5 years ago when they are also doing it with the PS4? Kinda a bit late to the party especially since everyone now is preparing for Switch 2. Also why a mix lineup bag of games? Almost feels like they just randomly pick 20 titles out of a drawing for both collections and call it a day. These doesn't scream quality or value, they scream late and lazy and why include only 10 games per collection? Why not 30 games per collection? Even the Wii had better NeoGeo collections than this and that's not counting the Virtual Console offerings.

I've heard complaints about the Arcade Archives ports of certain KOF/FF games, so this gets a pass from me. Maybe if SNK wants to try again, hopefully with a collection dedicated to King of Fighters/Fatal Fury with whatever voodoo magic Capcom's been putting in their own collections lately, then I might be interested.

Considering how small these games are, this will be likely be a multilanguage release, even if there isn't an actual ESRB US release.

This went from hype to bummer after seeing the random selection on offer here. I suppose if you just want to reach into the SNK hat and get a taste of their library, this is for you. For anyone looking for a comprehensive collection, this isn't it.

Odd lineup of how they batched the games together but cool I guess. I bought a whole bunch of ACA Neo Geo games over the years on Switch so I’m good skipping these collection.

I'm splitting hairs but I see these releases as Neo Geo 'Selections' rather than 'Collections.' Neither of them is collecting anything together (random titles doesn't count lol!)

I wouldn't get this unless you really want a physical version. Hamster's last two Taito collections were barebones at best, as they removed the high scores modes as well as English versions, with only the Japanese versions available.

This is an odd set of SNK games and they are not even the good ones. There are good NEO GEO and SNK games that should reintroduced to the world. Capcom is cooking way faster by reintroducing games in the collections of Marvel vs Capcom coming this year and the Power Stone duo in a new fighting compilation in 2025. Why can’t SNK bring good and average charmed games like King of the Monsters 1+2, Waku Waku 7, Ragnagard, world heroes 1+2, and galaxy fight: universal warriors?

Also there are still some games missing from the ACA Neo Geo library, like Double Dragon 1995, Kabuki Klash, Matrimelee, and Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer.

I already bought the entire ACA Neo Geo collection a long time ago.

Basically Taito Milestones with SNK titles.

And that sounds pretty damn good.

But I'd kill for a similar collection with Nintendo's releases.

Finally. Really looking forward to that 2nd volume bundle for Samurai Shodown and Mutation Nation.

If the collections of games were better - e.g. kof collection, samurai showdown+breakers collection - then it would be an easy sale. Them releasing in 15 collections all the games you want to play - you may as well buy the individual games you want and be done with it.

Hate to say it, but the capcom collections are less of a cash grab than these ones!

After years with them releasing the games with no sign of getting a physical release ever, it's too little too late. We already have dozens of these games.

Anyway, if they can be bought on Amazon Japan it's good news for someone, I guess. I won't double dip. I didn't buy some of the games included in these collections for a reason, so I won't be doing it now.

Interesting mix. You get a bunch of the weirdoes in there and not just KoF adjacent stuff.

I count 4 "must-have" games in the first collection, and 3 in the second collection.

I don't think these collections will be good value unless they are $15 or $20 (individual games are around $5 on sale).

Unless you just are reeeally interested in checking out a bunch of mediocre-to-bad NeoGeo games.

Fatal Fury 2 over Special is an odd choice.

Being someone who has been waiting for SNK compilations for a long long time... I think I'm gonna pass on these, they look to be about the worst selection of games they could possibly come up with.

I was VERY excited seeing this pop up but good golly those are some of the worst packs of games I have ever seen.

And honestly it's not because there's bad games (Garou is my #1) it's just that there are so few. Unless these are $20 collections, what's the point?

You can buy a Neogeo mini on Amazon for ~$60 that comes with every kof, every metal slug, every samsho, and nearly every aof/fatal fury (the good ones at least). I don't know why they're so picky on the Switch.

Just give us a Metal Slug collection already.

I really don't get the people complaining that it doesn't have every KoF or Fatal Fury game.

When the NGMini dropped, there were so many complaints that there were too many fighting games. Now SNK drops a collection with solid variety across multiple genres and people find a reason to complain anyways...

Honestly, I was hoping they would do this, but given there have been so many better SNK collections (SNK Arcade Classics Vol 1 on Wii, for example) I can't justify this unless it adds new features to the games (training, online, etc).

ACA are too barebones ports to justify these collections, IMO. It's a different story with the Taito collections since some of those are first time ports.

I don't want to tell anyone how to live their lives....but.... just buy the single titles of these you like digitally and be done with it.

Have to echo what a lot of you have already said, the combination of games seems odd.

@PKDuckman None of those are release as ACA games yet. Also I doubt SNK had any rights to those anymore. Gowcaizer and Double Dragon are license games, Kabuki Klash is a Far East of Eden game based on the same anime, and Matrimelee is a Power Instinct game own by Atlus which is now part of Sega who had never made a new Virtua Fighter, Fighting Vipers, Eternal Champions, and Last Bronx game in the past 15 years who are also part of Sammy who owns Arc System Works that made the Guilty Gear games which are now porting Guilty Gear Strive to Switch.

Splitting this into 2 carts is just greedy. If it were one, I'd buy it no doubt. But like this? I won't buy either.

What a weird and unappealing lineup of games in each Volume.

SNK should look at Capcoms recent Marvel/Streetfighter collection and how amazing the reception was overall.

If these are just an assortment of ACA Neo Geo releases collected, I wonder if these will be actual carts, or just a download code in a box.

Considering the Neo Geo's lineup, this is quite a paltry selection, spread across two collections no less. In any case, I already have most of the Neo Geo games I wanted via ACA Neo Geo.

Hey SNK, How about some brand new games in the NEO GEO style? We all have these games already and they're all fantastic, but something new would be great.

Pretty random selection, especially considering they're doing sequential numbered volumes.

Good thing for region free! Hopefully we get a western release though. Would be Nice to be able to have these classics physically! Hamster collections next!!!

How does this compare to the SNK anniversary collection that came out a couple years back? any different games?

I just wanted Superside Kicks 2, 3 and 98. They delisted them without a warning and I didn't get to buy them.
If there is the Taiwan/China issue they could always hack the rom and have a different name and flag of the team. I thought they would come back modified but they never did.

They probably won't, considering all the licenses, but I'd love an Arcade Archives release. There's still quite a few I need to get.

Completely different game collections. The SNK Anniversary Collection was games made pre NEOGEO.

Get them on Gog.
They are often also included in the Amazon Prime Subscription
