Shadow's Sonic Generations Campaign Length Reportedly Revealed

That's quite impressive; it seems like it's essentially two games in one! I was expecting it to be a quick 2-3 hour experience, but this is a pleasant surprise. Considering the pace at which the levels progress, I'm guessing this includes the standard bonus missions as well though?

As long as it exceeds the duration of the Project Shadow DLC for Sonic Forces, which is about 20-minutes over three levels, then it definitely sounds promising!

@Mana_Knight Thats because it is two games in one. Shadow Generations is a separate game bundle with Sonic Generations.

I'm excited to see what the stage selections for Unleashed, Colors, Lost World, Mania, and Superstars are, assuming any of them will receive a stage in the first place.

That is shockingly long given how little content they've actually been showing off. I was getting the sense it was like two hours at most.

If the game is a long as the main game, then why couldn't it be a whole new game just starring Shadow?

The way it's been advertised, one could could the impression it's no more than a couple of hours.

@Bratwurst35 Sonic Generations was only a couple hours. It's only when you go for the 90 side missions and Red Rings that the length goes anywhere.

So this is likely a 3 hour to beat deal or so.

Only ever had the 3DS version of Generations growing up as I didn't own a PlayStation or Xbox. I've wanted to play the console version of this game for years after all the good things I've heard. Can't wait for this to come out!

i am so excited for people who never got the chance to play the original sonic gens! I think people are gonna be pretty suprised by how good it is, especially since most people have kind of harbored the (somewhat fair) assumption that sonic is always bad. I'm not overly optimistic about the future of sonic just yet, but if is setting the precedent for the future we're on a pretty good path right now! Have a great time playing, first-timers; you're in for a banger!

The 3DS version was decent but not as good as the home console version. Looking forward to this "newer" version that'll hopefully be even better than both

I am cautiously optimistic for now. But if it really is just a whole second set of full Sonic Generations levels then this will be a must buy.

Yeah, I'm feeling slightly more optimistic after reading this. I also had the idea that this would be a tacked on, shorter campaign, with them trying to say 'well you get all the original sonic generations levels too' as an excuse.

I'll withhold my judgement for now as I've not played the game through, but it feels like they may have had better public perception if they hadn't said they would be including the original game from the start. They should have sold this as entirely brand new, and then as an added bonus, the original game is just there at launch too (without mentioning this at all in the marketing). Would that have changed the end result of the game? Maybe not, but for sure my perception would have been different.

This might just be the second Sonic game on Switch I'll get. Sonic Mania being the first I bought. But as always, I'll wait for a couple of reviews, before adding it to any wishlist.

Ah he'll yeah! There was th concern that this was only gonna be a few levels, but if it's roughly thr dame length as Sonic's campaign, and WITHOUT classic Sonic, that's fantastic news!

@TheDragonDAFan I don't think we're gonna see any of those, since those games are completely unrelated to Shadow. (I know Frontiers isn't either, but it's the most recent game in the series so that's probably why Chaos Island is in there),
It does seem we're getting Westopolis level, which makes sense, it'd be weird if the Shadow campaign skipped on a level of Shadow the Hedehog, specially if Black Doom is the main antagonist.

@Mgalens No. The trailers Nintendo has posted of the game claim to be the PC version running at the Switch's specs. Curiously, they didn't disable 60fps playback for them on YouTube, so there's maybe a slim chance Sonic Generations is 60fps on Switch? Definitely not Shadow Generations, though.

ah that is a concern i would have hoped to have seen some actual footage of this version considering its still a version being sold.

would be cool if the switch version of generations could hit 60fps since its great when you gotta go fast though would be more than fine with a stable 30 for the shadow portion.

i remember forces and the cyberspace segments of frontiers being okay on switch (colours is another story though iirc that was developed by a separate team) so im hoping it turns out fine on switch.

@Mgalens I'm surprised we never saw the game in a Direct like we did for Frontiers. Either way, I kind of want to hold out and see if they confirm a version of the game for the Switch successor, but I kind of doubt that would run at 60fps for Shadow Generations as well. I don't think Frontiers runs at 60fps on PS4/Xbox One, though Shadow Generations does have a more limited scope...even the Open Zone hub is lighter on detail
