While I fully expect the Switch 2 to be an iterative successor a la the SNES/GameCube, I really hope it has a weird integral feature that forces those who develop games for it to consider it during the game development process. I know that sounds like a recipe for disaster after the Switch was so successful due to its general ease-of-use for devs, but I'm a huge fan of systems like the DS/Wii which flipped how games could be played on their head and the sheer level of creativity that flowed from that era of hardware was staggering. Very much letting my biases show here but yeah: I think that'd be pretty neat

@Fizza nothing wrong with that at all! In fact I relate to those biases as someone who still owns an NDS and kinda missed the boat on the Wii and Wii U but always wanted to try ‘em! I do appreciate some Nintendo quirkiness every now and then, it gives em a ton of personality, especially when they implement their gimmick so well.
Also, I’m gonna send you a friend request on Switch, so don’t be surprised in a few minutes. XD
Special Switch 2 VR without glasses or headset.
You want to play a fighting game, then Nintendo sends people to your home to beat you up. That sort of thing It would be cool!
I fw that energy. Why beat peopke in a game when you could beat them in real life?
A way to enhance the frame rate and the performance of OG Switch games. 30FPS has been a pain to see lately.
Not a particularly ridiculous feature. The current view on how backwards compatibility could work on Switch 2 is that the code would run natively on the CPU and GPU instructions would run through a translation layer. And obviously if you're not running on cartridge storage will be faster because.... the storage will be faster
It would actually take effort for Switch games to perform exactly as they did on Switch with this setup. The "lazy" approach has games running in BC mode almost universally hitting their target framerates and resolutions. I would be fairly surprised if when booting EoW on Switch 2, for example, if it doesn't just run at 1080p/60fps all the time
............... now enhancing these games through patches? THAT's the crazier theory. Definitely possible and I think it will happen. But me thinking it will happen is based mostly on what I want to happen. And if the games aren't patched in any way then the targets that were set on Switch will be as far as they go
i.e.
Backwards Compatibility -> All but confirmed IMO
And hitting their targets (i.e. EoW at a stable 60fps) ->VERY likely
And running beyond the targets (i.e. TTYD at 60fps) -> Possible but I wouldn't count on it
Doing things beyond the Switch spec (i.e. DLSS, HDR) -> Unlikely
@Grumblevolcano
Now I want to beat so many games, so I can collect lots of plush toys. Then I would sleep with them in my bed like a little kid and dream the dreams of a winner, because I won in so many games.

Inspired by what @Grumblevolcano said, imagine the Switch 2 being able to 3D print an item, let you interact with it IRL, and have the game "react" to what you did to the object. Basically a big mix of VR, toys-to-life and eventually motion controls.
Maybe a bit too much of a ridiculous fantasy feature 😄

In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.”

Once it’s 3d printed, does it have somewhere to insert your dongle?
@Clammy Yes, but the game will be very derisive of the size of your dongle

An NSO subscription includes access to Nintendo’s entire catalogue of game soundtracks that can be streamed though the NSO app or a dedicated Nintendo Music app. (It’s such a shame this qualifies as a “fantasy” feature.)
You can’t control the way others talk to you, but you can control the way you talk to others.
