@Joeynator3000 We've seen so many unique characters! From what I know, the only familiar Mario characters shown were Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Princess Peach, Dorrie, and Shy Guys, the rest seem to be unique/new characters. Absolutely a win for Mario RPGs.
There were so many generic Toads in Paper Mario 4-6, and now we haven't seen any Toads in Brothership at all XD
@FawfulsFury Oh wow I didn't notice that! That's actually really cool. I'm very excited for this! I wonder if Fawful will be in this game. (Also I updated the list with Dorrie)
Gonna be real: I don't vibe with the box. Everything's just 3D models with the bare minimum in terms of touch ups. It looks fine in the game, but for the box it feels...cheap.
I'm worried now that the new devs didn't involve artist Masanori Sato in anyway. His style was a big part of M&L's visual identity even in the games he wasn't involved with. Given that Brothership is taking direct influence from Sato's style, it'd be weird if he didn't have a hand in this.
@N00BiSH
Nice.
I like the minimalist cover like that.
And to see Mario & Luigi are hugging in the cover, really tells that they have great brotherhood relationship.
Personally I think the box art looks cool, fits the style of the other ones, but looks newer. Love the simple design, looks nice. The lighting looks very nice. That's just my opinion, I understand that it probably won't appeal to everyone.
A NintendoLife user that could talk about Kirby, Pikmin, or Mario RPGs for hours without getting bored!
@PikminMarioKirby my problem isn't with the overall layout, it's the fact that they're using 3D models in place of the 2D art used for the other games. Compare these to Broship's and you can hopefully see where I'm coming from.

This was an excellent game to open the Direct with. I'm glad the M&L series isn't dead, though like others I am curious about who the developer(s) is/are.
That said, I'll need to wait a little while after launch before grabbing this. I realize there's little continuity between the M&L titles, but I still need to get to Dream Team and Paper Jam. I finally played Bowser's Inside Story (the 3DS rerelease) recently.

Apparently a bunch of twitter idiots are hating on the game because
A. It’s Not a sequel to paper Mario or super Mario RPG.
B. Does not have starlow.
C. They think the graphics are bad. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FiG9hPXqF5Q
These people are crazy. Heck some of them even said and I quote “who asked for this”.
I'm so glad that Mario and Luigi is finally back. The game looks great. There's some noticeable differences, which is telling that they couldn't exactly get everyone who worked on the original games back though. The main art style on the cover isn't the same as the original games- as it isn't drawn by the same guy who did the originals.
I'm at least hoping we'll get Yoko Shimomura's music, given that she's a large part of what made Mario and Luigi such a great series in the first place. Hopefully the writing is also just as on-point as the previous games as well.
@Tyranexx The leading theory I have is Monolithsoft being the developers of the game. The guy who directed a lot of the older Mario and Luigi titles apparently works at Monolith, so there's a possibility that some remnants of AlphaDream still exist within the production of this game.

@N00BiSH They aren't using 3D models for the box art. The art on the box is all drawn for the box. It's just a different artist who drew it. @Joeynator3000

@Greatluigi
A. Those would be cool but remakes for those just came recently and we can wait for potential new games in those series.
B. Having a new cast of characters is cool as well
C. Graphics look pretty good (in my opinion), just different from the previous ones
@VoidofLight Monolith is indeed a possibility. Besides the facts you've stated already, they've proven with the Xenoblade series and even with other joint Nintendo ventures that they have the expertise and staff to pull off some truly amazing gaming feats. They could certainly handle this.

@N00BiSH No, it's a drawing. I can definitely tell it's a drawing. The shading gives the illusion of it being 3D models, but it's just a different art style due to not being able to get the original artist back.

@VoidofLight Okay, I'm not going to argue about this anymore, but I do wanna clarify something. Masanori Sato only did the box art for Superstar Saga(remake included) and Partners in Time. The box art for the other games were done by different artists who could perfectly replicate Sato's style.
