Today I acquired a Famicom cartridge for this game. I tried to beat it, but the final level was too difficult.
Otherwise it was pretty fun, though the enemy placement is pretty annoying at times.
And unfortunately the cartridge I got was a bit dodgy with a loose connection - a slight jostle to my Famicom (caused by me pulling slightly too hard on those insanely short controller cables hardwired into the system) made the game stop working entirely. I couldn't get it to start up again after that. :/
Sunsoft put out some great side-scrollers on NES and this is a perfect example. A bit short, but a great game with tight controls and really colorful graphics for the time.
