Our team of expert writers has been assembled with the sole purpose of making you, our readers, the most knowledgeable Nintendo fans on the planet.

You won't find a more complete archive of Nintendo download reviews anywhere on the internet, because we've reviewed over 7,000 games across all of Nintendo's platforms, both old and new.

Within our archive, you'll find in-depth and reliable reviews of hundreds of Nintendo Switch, Wii U, 3DS, Wii and DS games – along with a generous helping of retro content. We've got decades of combined experience and have been at the vanguard of Nintendo coverage for nearly twenty years.

On top of that, we've amassed almost 75,000 articles and published 25,000 game profiles since 2005, and have grown a YouTube channel that is home to over 4,000 videos and 774,000 subscribers.

But there's more! We've got popular X, Facebook and Instagram social media channels, helping us reach our audience in more ways than ever before. Across all of our social accounts, we're followed by almost 1.5 million people.

History

Nintendo Life was founded by Anthony Dickens in the latter part of 2005, just in time for the North American Wii launch in 2006 – making it one of the oldest sites of its kind on the web.

A successor project to Dickens' GameCube-focused site, Nintendo Life aimed to encompass every aspect of Nintendo fandom, even in those early days. News, reviews, features, culture, and community; these are the touchpoints that the site has arguably stuck to, even to this very day.

Nintendo Life joined forces with WiiWare World and VC-Reviews in April 2009, bringing Darren Calvert and Damien McFerran on board and creating the internet's foremost resource on the world of Nintendo. Since then, the site has grown to become the leading authority on all elements of Nintendo fandom, as well as the world's primary source for Nintendo Switch reviews, news and coverage across all historic Nintendo platforms.

In 2010, the company that owns Nintendo Life, Hookshot Media, was incorporated. In 2011, a commercial relationship was established with Gamer Network, the business behind sites such as Eurogamer, Rock Paper Shotgun, VG247 and Digital Foundry.

In 2024, Nintendo Life became a partner of IGN Entertainment after Gamer Network was acquired by Ziff Davis. You can find out more about the business in our Ownership & Funding Policy.

Over the years Nintendo Life has been fortunate to enjoy an incredibly close working relationship with Nintendo itself, and was entrusted with hosting Mario Kart 8, Splatoon, Splatoon 2 and Splatoon 3 tournaments at EGX in the United Kingdom, one of the country's biggest live gaming events.

We've also previously hosted a Street Pass zone and 3DS stand at EGX, and our relationship with Nintendo is so close that we were even lucky enough to have had our own specially curated section on the 3DS eShop in 2011 and 2012. Today, we're still seen as the world's leading authority on all things eShop.

Furthermore, it has given us immense pleasure and pride to see several of our former staff members obtain coveted positions within Nintendo itself.

We're also proud to note that we've been nominated for multiple industry awards over the years including, most recently, finalists in the "Media Brand of The Year" category at MCV Develop's 2024 awards.
