Image: Nintendo Life

Looking for the best new Nintendo Switch games releasing soon? 2023 was a banner year for the ageing hybrid console, and even if it looks like the Switch is winding down as it approaches its eighth year on the market, there are still plenty of beauties to pick up in 2024.

Another Code, Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Princess Peach: Showtime, Endless Ocean, and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door got the year off to a slow but steady start. But the rest of 2024 is giving us a brand new Zelda game in the form of Echoes of Wisdom — where Zelda is the main character! — a new Mario & Luigi RPG, and a new Mario Party.

Which upcoming Switch games have us saving up our Nintendo eShop Gold Points, though? Below we've rounded up 35 (ish... come on, you know we can't just have 35!) of the biggest new Nintendo Switch games coming soon. They run the gamut from AAA first-party offerings to DLC to promising-looking indies. We'll be adding to (and subtracting from) this list as the weeks and months go by.

Let's take a look at our most anticipated Switch games for the months (and years) ahead...

Nintendo Switch Upcoming Games

Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed (Switch)

If 2024 is the year of the Wii and 3DS, then we're more than happy to welcome it with open arms. Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is a faithful remake of the 2010 Wii platformer which gave the world a more mischievous side to Mickey Mouse. New controls and visuals are just a few of the things we'll get to experience when we paint the canvas on 24th September 2024; we managed to review the game ahead of its release, and it's a pretty fantastic remake:

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom (Switch)

For everyone that has been begging to see Zelda take centre-stage in a mainline Zelda (we certainly have), this one's for you. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom tasks Zelda, not Link, with saving Hyrule. Using the Tri Rod to create 'echoes' — copies of items and enemies — she'll be able to fight enemies and solve puzzles to get to the bottom of the rifts covering the world.

It's got that charming Link's Awakening remake art style and a lovely soundtrack, and it brings the creativity of Tears of the Kingdom to a much smaller scale. It's coming out very soon too — 26th September 2024. But what did we think of it? We loved it.

REYNATIS (Switch)

FuRyu's Shibuya-set action RPG REYNATIS has some big names attached to it. Super Mario RPG composer Yoko Shimomura. Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts writer Kazushige Nojima. Trinity Trigger director TAKUMI. It's an all-star cast with a range of talent, then. The game is out on 27th September, but unfortunately, we don't think everything meshes together all that well:

Europa (Switch eShop)

Okay, if the moon is this pretty, then we want to visit ASAP. We know Europa isn't set on our moon, but the Ghibli-inspired visuals, lush landscapes, and relaxing pace have us dreaming of more ethereal, soothing space travel. This touching adventure is coming to Switch on 11th October 2024, and there's a free demo to dive into now.

Neva (Switch eShop)

The next game from Nomada Studio — the team that brought us the wonderful GRIS — Neva looks to be just as beautiful and breathtaking. Revealed at Summer Game Fest 2023, we're trading platforming for more action and adventure. and, from the looks of it, some gorgeous-looking animals too. The game is due out on 15th October 2024.

Blazing Strike (Switch)

Oozing the effortless style of Neo Geo fighters, Blazing Strike is inspired by classic 2D fighting games, mostly from the kings of the genre — Capcom and SNK. After a few years of silence, we'll be able to dig into this blend of pixel art fighting with modern sensibilities on 17th October 2024.

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven (Switch)

Square Enix continues to shower love on its cult series with a brand new remake in the form of Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven. We did not expect this one, and it looks absolutely beautiful. Retaining that classic SaGa DNA, the remake aims to bring the SNES favourite to a whole new audience, complete with difficulty settings and new features. Romancing SaGa 2 is most well-known for its Imperial Succession system, where you get to pick the next protagonist of the next "era" who will inherit all of their parent's skills.

This remake launches on 24th October 2024, just in case you need more JRPG — or even more SaGa — in your life this year.

Yakuza Kiwami (Switch eShop)

The Dragon of Dojima is finally making his Switch debut — well, outside of his cameos in Super Monkey Ball. Yakuza Kiwami marks the Like A Dragon series' first release on the hybrid console and focuses on the beginning of Kazuma Kiryu's journey and his relationship with the Tojo Clan. Coming to Switch on 24th October 2024, will you be heading to Kamurocho?

Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration Expanded Edition (Switch)

Atari 50 was one of our favourite games of 2022, and it's easily one of the best compilations we've ever played. Packed full of video game history, the digital museum was an absolute wonder.

It's no surprise, then, that Digital Eclipse is expanding on the original. Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration Expanded Edition expands the roster to over 140 games, new interviews, and more archival footage. If you haven't picked up Atari 50 yet, then this is the package for you. If you have, then you'll be able to get this as paid DLC. Expanded Edition launches on 25th October 2024.

Sonic X Shadow Generations (Switch)

Sonic Generations, one of the most beloved 3D Sonic games, is making its grand return with tons of brand-new content in Sonic X Shadow Generations. Alongside a complete remaster of the original game, you'll also be getting a new campaign featuring Shadow the Hedgehog. You'll be able to team up with the blue blur and the ultimate lifeform on 25th October 2024.

Ys X: Nordics (Switch)

Adol Christin returns and is taking to the high seas in Ys X: Nordics, the latest instalment in Falcom's long-running action RPG series. You'll be able to play as adventurer Adol or Norman pirate Karja and combine their strength for a new spin of the action-packed Ys combat. Naval combat, exploration, and more await when Ys X slashes onto Switch on 25th October 2024.

Metal Slug Tactics (Switch eShop)

First unveiled at E3 2021 and confirmed for Switch in the August Indie World Showcase, Metal Slug Tactics was heading to Switch sometime in 2022 before getting pushed into 2023. Things have been relatively silent for the tactical RPG, but a new trailer revealed we'll be seeing the game in Fall 2024.

Dotemu is on publishing duties for this isometric turn-based take, with Leikir Studio developing. Sonic Mania composer Tee Lopes is also working on the soundtrack, so there's no shortage of talent involved. We've got a good feeling about this one.

Mario & Luigi: Brothership (Switch)

Pinch us right now — Mario & Luigi is back. AlphaDream may have shuttered its doors a few years ago, but Mario & Luigi: Brothership looks to be delivering on all fronts. We don't know much about it yet, besides the fact it takes place on an island that's also a ship. Turn-based battles make a return, as do Bros. Attacks. We've said this many times over the past year, but Mario RPG fans are really feasting at the moment. Brothership is out on Switch on 7th November 2024.
